Grid Operator — Power Grid Planning Sim
Grid Operator is a casual planning game about running a power grid. Each day you read a demand forecast with an honest confidence band, commit your fleet on an 8-block timeline — baseload capacity, peaker standby, battery policy — then run the day and watch it resolve in about a minute. The automation (AGC) holds the frequency for you; it strains or fails only where your plan came up short. When something breaks — a unit trip, a cloud bank over the solar fleet, a price spike — the game pauses on a decision card and waits for your call. Events wait for you; there is no twitch.
Earnings buy real hardware: bigger batteries, a sharper forecast desk, a third baseload unit, hydro, nuclear, wind, an export desk, pumped storage. A five-day authored season teaches the systems one at a time, then an endless escalating season — boss days included — sees how far your planning goes. Everything the game tells you is arithmetic it actually did: cards never offer panic buttons for problems your plan already covered.
